School Expectations
Attendance:
Students are expected to attend 100% of the time. Century students have 4 one hour classes each day for a total of 20 hours of class each week. If you miss a day or even a single hour, you are expected to make up the time (hour for hour) after school. We keep track of these hours on the directed study course listed as period 9.
Grades:
All students are expected to learn at a "C" level. If you do not show competancy, you will be expected to continue working on the material until you have earned at least a grade of "C".
Credits:
All students are expected to earn at least 40 credits per semester and 100 credits in a one year time period.
Biography
I am a science and math teacher at Century High School with more than 30 years of teaching experience in the Alhambra Unified School District. I would like to share a little bit of biographical information about myself before getting into the course material.
As you can see from the pictures I have several hobbies. My main interest after my wife and children is my pets. I have two American Saffordshire Terriers. A white male of 90 pounds and a brown 60 pound female.
Another important hobby I have is collecting antique cars. I have a restored 1928 Model A Ford roadster. It has a 19.5 hp engine and has a top speed of 50 mph. I also have a 1931 Ford Model AA 2 ton duel wheel truck. The truck has a top speed of 40 mph and has the same 19.5 hp engine. I also have a 1931 Ford hotrod (not pictured) that I built while in college. It has a 400hp corvette racing engine, turbohydro 400 transmission, and the large 10 inch positraction rearend.
I iike to go camping and every summer our family goes camping for two weeks. A lot of our summer vacations are spent in Oregon in the Bend area. Our camping trips include exstensive hiking, biking, and boating excursions.
